Additional Information
Directions
To reach the Red Cross traveling from
the west or east, take U.S. 70 Business
into downtown Smithfield. (U.S. 70
Business is Market Street.) Look
for the intersection with U.S.
301. If coming from the west, turn
right, or if from the east, turn left
onto U.S. 301 South. Go to the
next stoplight (about 1/2 mile) and turn
right. (Note that this
intersection shows "Brogden Road" to the
left, but you want to turn right.)
Go one block to Third Street and turn
right. The Red Cross will be on
your right.
If you are coming from
the north or south on I 95, take Exit
95 onto U.S. 70 Business West into
downtown Smithfield to the
intersection with U.S. 301. Turn
left onto U.S. 301 South and follow
the directions in the paragraph
above. If you are coming from
the north on U.S. 301, follow the same
directions given above. If you
are coming from the south on U.S. 301,
look for the Brogden Road
intersection, which will indicate
Brogden Road as a right turn, but turn
left at this intersection, and follow
the directions above.
(Note
that the U.S. 70 Bridge over the
Neuse River has been closed for
reconstruction. It is not
scheduled to reopen until the
summer of 2013, so if you are
coming from Raleigh or points
westward, you may want to
consider taking U.S. 70 &
U.S. 70 Bypass to I-95 S at
Selma, and from there come into
Smithfield via I-95 as described
above.)

license and a photocopy. You
will also need a photo I.D, such as a

team will also accept your photograph
with your name in your school yearbook
as a picture I.D.
Test fees for this year
are still $15.00.
Pre-registration is not
required.
The VE team will make
every effort to accommodate persons
with special needs, such as visually
impaired testing. You are
encouraged to contact either of the
two VE team liaisons well in advance
of the session to advise us of any
special needs you may have.
Finally, if you successfully upgrade
and would like to donate your study
guide, tapes or software to TEARA, we
will gladly accept the donation to use
in an upcoming radio class or to pass
on to a prospective ham or upgrade
candidate.
