TEARA PowerPoint Study Guides

PLEASE NOTE.  THE NEW TECHNICIAN POOL WILL BE USED EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2O1O.  THE QUESTIONS IN THE CURRENT GUIDE WILL NO LONGER BE VALID FOR EXAMS GIVEN ON OR AFTER THAT DATE.  ALTHOUGH MUCH OF THE MATERIAL WILL STILL BE GOOD FOR STUDY PURPOSES, THE QUESTIONS THEMSELVES WILL NOT.  WE ARE WORKING ON A REVISION TO REFLECT THE NEW QUESTION POOL AND WILL POST IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

IF YOU WANT TO GET THE MOST CURRENT QUESTION MATERIAL, WE SUGGEST...

What are the TEARA Technician Study Guides?

The fine folks at TEARA, along with some of our fellow hams at the Smithchart Amateur Radio Society, have developed a series of ten free PowerPoint study guides to help you prepare for the Technician exam.  Each study gude contains a series of information slides that gives you the information you need to know to correct;y answer the questions for that particular sub-element of the question pool.  In addition, each Powerpoint has all the questions and answers for that sub-element, as well as explanations for each correct answer.  The TEARA study guides may also be used by instructors for group instruction in a classroom.  Regardless, they are absolutely free to the amateur community.

Effective November 24, 2006, you can download Release 2.0 of the study guides as "zipped" files from our download page on this site.

Errors

Release 2.0 corrected a number of minor errors identified in Release 1.0, none of which affected the answer to any possible question on the exam.  With this latest release, we hope we have now corrected all of the little "bugs" without creating new ones.  The reported bugs from both Release 1.0 and 2.0 can be viewed HERE.  If you happen to find an error, contact information may be found on that page as well.

PowerPoint Viewer

Don't have PowerPoint?  No problem!  You can go HERE to download Microsoft's free PowerPoint viewer, or better still, go to http://www.libreoffice.org/ to get the full office suite, LibreOffice.  This is a full open source suite of software that is similar in function to Microsoft Office.  It's absolutely free, and it includes Impress, an open source alternative to PowerPoint.  The TEARA Technician PowerPoint files have been tested on Impress, and they work just fine.
